It’s Canada Day, Eh?
As we all know, this year is a very special year, it is Canada’s 150th birthday…yay, happy birthday Canada! Events will be taking place all throughout the country on the days leading up to and following Canada day, so, I decided to share some that might be of interest for you to attend.
On Saturday July 1st at 4pm if you around London, Ontario make sure to stop by the official opening of the Mar Zaia Assyrian Canadian Community Centre (182 Hale St, London, ON. There will be traditional Assyrian music, the raising of both the Assyrian and Canadian flags, delicious Assyrian food and a great opportunity to socialize with other Assyrian Canadians!
Now let’s make our way from London towards Toronto for another fun-filled day at the picnic fundraiser presented by the Assyrian Aid Society of Canada at the Croatian Centre (9118 Winston Churchhill Blvd, Norval, ON on Sunday July 2nd from 1pm-9pm This picnic, similar to other Assyrian summer picnics, will feature live music, traditional dancing, food, kid’s activities, and an overall great time on Sunday July the 2nd!
Drawing the Canada Day weekend to a close, there will be a summer picnic fundraiser held on Monday July 3rd. The event presented by the Urhay Committee will take place at the Polish Army Park (9700 HWY 27, Vaughan, ON) at 3pm and will be led by legendary Assyrian singers. What better way to end off a great weekend other than another picnic filled with amazing entertainment?
St. Peter Chaldean Catholic Church of Oakville presents a Canada day festival on Saturday July 8th at the Croatian Centre (9118 Winston Churchhill Blvd, Norval, ON). This family friendly event will feature live music, food, and amazing activities for kids. It is definitely an event worth attending if you are in the area, stop by and have some fun with locals from St. Peters!
If you are looking to attend a Canada day event outside of the Assyrian community, you might be interested in “It’s Your Festival” taking place at Gage Park (1000 Main St E, Hamilton, ON) from June 30th to July 2nd. This festival will feature live entertainment from artists like Ashley MacIsaac, tributes to Native Americans, delicious food, family friendly activities, and an overall great time!
